MEWAR STATE HISTORY
Mewar (Mewad) or Udaipur empire is the southernmost region of Rajasthan, the then Rajputana. For centuries the Sisodia Rajputs ruled the Mewar area. The current patrons of Mewar are of Sisodia Rajput descent from the Suryavanshi dynasty.

Mewar Ghar or Udaipur empire was at the top of the list of those Hindu states, that never bowed to foreign intruders, including the Mughal empire of Delhi. There are new and old capitals of Udaipur and Chittaur Mewar. Other major cities are Bhilwara, Rajsamand, and some parts of today's Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
The Uday of the present Sisodia dynasty began in the 8th century from the time of Bappa Rawal. The god of the Mewar family is ekling, which is a form of Lord Shiva.
Mewar's history is full of sacrifices and Rajput courage. Sisodiya Maharana of Mewar never made any treaty or alliance with Muslim invaders; Instead, they decided to oppose the Delhi empire and did an undeclared war for decades, to get control of Mewar, it is impossible for a monarch like Akbar.
Maharana Pratap was the only ruler of Medieval India who made Akbar impossible to confiscate Mewar areas during his lifetime. Maharana Pratap gave many sacrifices to protect the sovereignty of his homeland with the enemies of the enemy Mughals and Jaipur Amber's rival Kachwaha Rajputs. Rajput women of Mewar in that time collectively sati to protect their dignity from the invaders.
In fighting the Mughals, Bhils (an Adivasi community) played an important role with Maharana Pratap, as an honor, they are still a part of the Royal Crest of Mewar's house.
